Shown with three different frameworks, New Moon is reverse chipped, sand-carved, silvered, and offset on a 30" diameter, 1/4" black back-painted glass. The glass is centered and"floats" above:
1. perforated steel background with 3/4" rolled edges.
2. gloss black 3/4" light weight MDF. The effect is a highly reflective silver moon projecting from a black "mirror", which itself is floating above a reflective black background. Striking!
3. An additional benefit of using the "off-frame", floating mount is that the background can be reversed, as shown in the bottom photo. Here, the mirral is mounted against a randomly textured surface which is finished in satin black. To reverse the background, you would simply reverse the hangers and mounting clips - a screw driver is all that is required. This is an option you would specify, i.e., color and/or texture.
Tool-less, gloss black retaining clips allow for easy rotation, if desired, and are nearly invisible.
